Crossfire Connectors

I just put together a Nvidia Rig for my sister. It was sli.

The problem is now, I am very jealous of her Nvidia rig. I have tri-fire 7970's and I am jealous of her sli 460's.

The reason is: my crossfire connectors are a piece of crap. I have many of them and I can barely get tri-fire connected properly so that the computer recognizes tri-fire.

The message I get is: Your crossfire connectors are not connected properly. Please check them. or something along that line.

One reason to stand jealous of her SLI system is her crossfire connectors are really really good. Mine are all wobbley when you connect them. It doesnt seem to matter what I get. All these crossfire connectors are a piece of crap.

I feel that If I had crossfire connectors that were shorter they wouldnt be so wobbley.
I believe all the links are all just made for crossfire not trifire. Thus its a piece of crap.

They are normal lenght crossfire connectors and they bend in the middle and they must not connect properly with the cards this close to each other.

Now another reason to stand jealous of Nvidia is that they actually have PCB trifire connectors. One of my dreams is that AMD would have a pcb trifire connector. This would probably solve all my problems....

I am tired of having to swap connectors, cross my fingers and hope it works. These connectors are fine, that is if you believe that amd makes fine connectors. I like AMD i just wish i had better connections.

To be proactive.... I just want to know how to plug these simple cables into a video card. Can anyone give me adviceÉ

Buy new Crossfire connectors? A bend in the ribbon cable part shouldn't affect the connection, so yours are old and/or broken.

It was thought long ago that one ribbon was not enough bandwidth between just 2 cards so many ran 2 ribbons for just 2 cards.

The Half-x case is not wide enough for tri-fire....

WHenever i close the case it applies pressure to the power cables.

I just closed the case for fun and now my video card is acting as if its asleep.
The problem is... I am in the middle of cloning my hard-drive to move data to a different hard-drive.

Theres that one guy wondering what 'kindof' preformance boost he will get from crossfire...

my advice is stay away from it. go with sli nvidia. quality. and this is coming from someone who has build both recently.

There's some truth to this. I have issues with smoothing when I run a resolution bigger than 5760x1200 when I have V-sync enabled. But this is both with and without 2 bridges.

When I run both 5400x1920 (10.4MP) and 7680x1600 (12.3MP) with Crossfired Cards and V-Sync, it stutters and limits the FPS to 30 FPS, even when I have settings that without V-sync gives me greater than 60 FPS constant. So there's something weird going on.

Your issue could also be your mobo as why many stayed with the x58 and it's true x16 by x16 CX as i still have mine and i ran HD5850 CX with 2 ribbons and never seen the micro shutter with the setup.

 How is that Crossfire's fault? That's a problem with your cable routing. A HAF-X is definitely wide enough to keep the cables away from the side panel.

Sounds like whining, but to be proactive I'll suggest swapping your tri-fire for my crossfire :D I'll even include connectors.
