I currently have a 5750 water cooled, I am looking to upgrade this fall (in time for swtor) and I was thinking to crossfire in a 5770, but since I'm on water now, adding on another block my loop may just raise the total upgrade cost enough to warrant just going with a single better card. Since 5770 prices have not fallen like I expected them to, should I just move on to the 6xxx series or nvidia? I'd say my budget is probably in the $150 range, maybe a little more if I can sell the 5750, but since it's used and the cooler has been removed/replaced I'm unsure of it's resale value.

thanks for whatever input you have.

why would you water cool a 5750? that just seens odd to me, but it is [H], i guess.

i would sell the 5750 and use that money plus the 150 you are already have. with 200+ you can get yourself a a shiny new gpu. maybe by the time you buy a 6950 1gb will be within your budget.

I went from 2 5770's to a 6950 2GB, and the difference was huge. Like the others say, sell the other one and buy a 6950 for sure.

Crossfire scaling was good on the 5700 cards, just not so much on the 5800/5970 cards. However if you get a second card you'll need to buy another block and I don't think the second card and block are worth it as if you sell this card and use all the money you gained from the sale and what you would pay for the 2nd card and block and just buy a 6970 lightning. or a 6970 and water cool it.

No point in adding a second HD5700 series on water, it's way too much money for the performance benefit. An HD5750+HD5770 combo couldn't really keep up with a single HD6950, let alone a next generation card.

it was w/c'ed simply because I have a universal block that I've used since like '05...it came with a kit, so why not? lol it works well for its intended use and it looks nice.

thanks for the suggestions, I guess I'll save a little extra for a ~6950.

I had two 5770s crossfired for a bit, on my P45 and Win7ult64, at x8 x8, i just didn't notice that much of an upgrade, so I backed it back down to one card. Your setup is probably better than mine for crossfire, but I would suggest going with a 6850 or 6870 on that budget.

Good Luck! B)

Agreed, definitely go with a completely new cared as opposed to CF 5770s.
