Crossfire 6970s low frame rates SC2?

Hey guys I'm new to crossfire and I just got a second HD 6970. I'm not sure if I have my cards configured correctly. I have tried a lot trouble shooting methods already and I'm pretty sure I am doing things right.

First off the drivers I am using are 11.10 and 11.9 CAP 4 and BIOS version is up-to-date. I'm reading on other forums of people running this game 150fps with similiar rigs in crossfire and 80fps on a single HD 6970.

My RaedonPro is configured correctly I believe, I see the crossfire overlay in the upper right hand corner. So I'm not sure what is going on. Basically I am getting about 70-75fps when nothing is going on i.e mining, building units/structures and I get a 50fps even down to 40fps when a lot of action is happening.

I believe I should getting a lot better frame rate, considering my hardware....or I could be wrong. I am how ever running a very high resolution 2560X1600 on Ultra settings.

SPECS:
Corsair Force 120GB SATA II SSD
Corsair Vengance 12GB DDR3 1600Mhz
ASUS Sabertooth X58
Raedon HD 6970 x2
i7 - 950 3.06GHz
Dell 30" 2560X1600

Do these frame rates seem appropriate for my hardware? Or is there a bottle neck somewhere? If someone could please help me out or shed some light on this that would be appreciated.

Thanks

That is normal. The game is very, very cpu limited.

There is really no increase to be had by moving up in GPU, especially at high res. I don't think my performance is any different between having the 590 run normally, or turning one gpu off.

If you went to 4ghz on your 950 your performance would improve dramatically. This is the one game where I can say there was also an equally big jump between 4ghz and 5ghz on my cpu.

Make sure you are running fullscreen (not borderless windowed) for CF to work. I personally play borderless windowed for easier alt+tabbing and am happy with one cards performance in this game. Are you loading both GPUs if you watch the Afterburner overlay? I didn't have to mess with RadeonPro...
