I just got my third 24" monitor for my eyefinity setup and wanted to know if the new drivers fixed the 5870 crossfire scaling. Also if my budget is around 300-350 if I should just buy a second 5870 or try to sell my 5870 and get two 6950s? I am doing this currently for World of Warcraft since I just got back on after a 4 year break and wanted to try it out with eyefinity.

Crossfire 5870s?

yea. I read a while back that the 10.7 or something drivers borked the Crossfire scaling really bad and people using I believe 10.4 or 10.5 correct me if I am wrong. I dont know if they fixed it. Maybe I should just sell my 5870 and get the new 6950s for some crazy eyefinity action. Although I wonder if my single 5870 can do it right now...
I'd just go with a single 5870 for now. Wow is much heavier on the CPU than on the GPU these days.
Check this out, 5760x1200 on a single 5870. Can't tell if he's maxed settings, but probably is. Seems to perform very well, but I can't tell if it's enough for high end 25 man raiding.

Here is the same setup, on a 5770. At 1:00 of the video you can see his settings. Maxed but no MSAA. Just take his FPS numbers extrapolate (double them) and we can guess 5870 performance.

My first multi-monitor setup was with a single 5870 at 5040x1050. WoW ran well in 25 man Raids as long as I kept AA to 2x. Everything else was set to Ultra levels. At 5870 x 1200, you may have to make further adjustments.
With a pair of 6950's (and their 2GB VRAM) you will have to make fewer comprises at these high resolutions.

WOW is a different beast now. It's much more GPU intensive then before. Those are old raids not taking advantage of DX11 support. When you enable DX11 support in your WOW folder it takes even further advantage of your GPU. (Highly Recommend it!)
Give a single 5870 a try with eyefinity. But I think your going to find yourself wanting more power. If thats the case I wouldn't bother with a second 5870. Sell it get two 6950's (2gb models only) and flash them to 6970s and enjoy.
From what I heard enabling DX11 is actually supposed to improve performance, does it not?

Sell the 5870 and get some 6950's. From the threads I have read at widescreen gaming forums, they're very happy with the scaling of the 69xx with their multimonitor setup.
WoW's experimental DirectX 11 support does not currently work in surround resolutions (5760x1080/1200) unless you run windowed (or windowed fullscreen) mode; you can't pick the surround resolution but it just uses your desktop resolution.
CrossfireX only works in fullscreen mode.
So you can't actually do both atm, until Blizzard enhances their DirectX 11 & surround compatibility. You must run DirectX 9 fullscreen if you want CrossfireX & Eyefinity (I found the performance to be poor in the new zones, even with my current setup). However, I was previously running WoW on a single 5870 @ 5760x1080 with DirectX 11 enabled, and was able to max all settings, except for AA.
