Crossfire 5870 or 6870

I currently have a Sapphire 5870 2GB Vapor-X and the wife just bought a 5870 1GB for crossfire setup.

Should I sell em on Ebay and grab some 6870s for crossfire scaling?

I run a single 28' inch monitor at 1920x1200 for games and a 22' for surfing. However i do plan on triple 28 inch in the future.

3X 28" will require more than either a 5870 or 6870 cf can handle with any decent options.

Sell both and get a 580 or a 6970. Get another one down the road.
 
Sorry Didn't see that you here doing 3 Screens. I had two 5870 in crossfire they working fine for the 3 screens that i had i had 3 Samsung 23' With the Accel DP to DVI converter
 
Depends on the resolution of your 28". You will lose the extra 1GB on one of the 5870 cards if you xfire them.

If it's 1920x1080 then one 5870 can definitely handle 1 monitor, and can even handle 3 (that's what I use), xfire will make it a bit better. Some settings may have to be turned down depending on the game.

Anti-aliasing is a biggy here, 1 GB you can run out of VRAM. For multi-monitor I would skip the 68xx series and go to the new 69xx series with 2GB VRam. This seems to give Amazing results alone or in crossfire it seems on multi-monitor systems from the reviews you can find all over. On single monitor systems the 69xx series is ok, but you can see it was really made for multi-monitor.

So... having said that I just convinced myself to upgrade too... lol...
