Crossfire 2600XT or Single HD 3870 ?

My friend is building a new computer and he has a choice between
Crossfire 2600XT 256mb each or a single HD3870 512mb
Im just woundering what would be better for playing games ?

HD 3870 hands down.

+1. Better choice for multiple reasons. Don't have to worry about crossfire, single card solutions are always easier to manage. Better upgrade options down the road. And the 3870 is just plain better.
