Some users have recently had their accounts hijacked. It seems that the now defunct EVGA forums might have compromised your password there and seems many are using the same PW here. We would suggest you UPDATE YOUR PASSWORD and TURN ON 2FA for your account here to further secure it. None of the compromised accounts had 2FA turned on.
Once you have enabled 2FA, your account will be updated soon to show a badge, letting other members know that you use 2FA to protect your account. This should be beneficial for everyone that uses FSFT.
Yes it will work. It would work even if the cards didn't match or had totally different core/mem speeds. You can even crossfire a 6970 with a 6950 or a 6990.
You can crossfire any of the same GPU. In the 6000 series AMD has a few different GPU's You can crossfire any Cayman (6950/6970) with each other Same with any Barts (6770/6850/6870), however you can't crossfire a Cayman with a Barts. Even though they are from the same generation they belong to different GPU families. Make sense?
Core mem etc.... doesnt matter. The cards will communicate and throttle effectively.
You can mix and match any card you want as long as the GPU is the same series.
For instance I have Crossfire'd 6950 and 6970 and 6990 all together and they worked great! Different builds for different people. My own build is a 6990 and a 6970 and im about to add a 2nd 6970 for 4 way crossfire once I get a socket 2011 board that has all the necessary lanes. Plus I have the cards haha!
