cross fire, how do you know its working?

how do you know of crossfire is working? just got a 4870x2, I am sure its working but a visual would be nice :)
 
that shows crossfire enabled.. was hoping to see some sort of visual in games. shrug.. no biggie.
 
as much as i HATE Crysis, hit ~ and see how many GPUS its using, when you first start the game it should show you

You could open CCC and look at the GPU utilization ingame... oh wait you need two screens for that.
 
I alt tab in game to check my clocks/temp and I noticed while playing crysis my idle clocks of 507/500 don't increase to 750/900 like they should. While in c&c3 the idle clocks do increase from 507/500 to 750/900. Does anyone know how to fix this?
 
Get a demo/game that works well with CF (meaning not Crysis, try COD4, or if you want a demo to download, try the Call of Juarez or Devil May Cry 4 demo). Go into CCC, disable CF. Test your FPS by either using FRAPS or one of the demos mentioned. Go back into CCC and enable CF. Test again, compare stats.

how do I disable crossfire? And I know gpu's are working even in crysis because I can see the gpu activity rising fast on both gpu's it's just that gpu 1 doesn't increase it clocks. gpu 2 is always at 750/900 and doesn't idle down acording to ccc. I'm new to ati cards and ccc so I don't really get all of it, and the two gpu concept and configuration :confused:
 
There is a checkbox in CCC to enable crossfireX. Untick that box and you are now using 1 gpu.

he wont get "crossfire" he will get 2 gpus, crossfire is still 2 separate cards in the drivers.
 
I found Devil May Cry 4 to be a excellent crossfire demo. I did some testing with 8x w/ edge detect, 24xCFAA with crossfire disabled and enabled on my 4870 setup. Pretty much 100% scaling. So it was a excellent test for crossfire and if it is working for me.

Was 1920x1200, max everything.
 
I find COD4 to be the best test myself. Pretty close to 100% scaling as well if you raise your max framerate in the cod4 cfg file.
