The data is most likely recoverable, if he wanted to truly destroy it he should have ran DBAN on the drive. Kid clearly didn't know what he was doing.

Oh no no, SkribbelKat and I knew what we were doing, we just simply installed Linux to let them know that we could have run DBAN or dd or a whole slew of other nasty-wasties on their systems, as well as those silly tape libraries.
