Original thread here - this sketch is an etching on a sidepanel.

http://hardforum.com/showthread.php?t=945569

EDIT New pic put in.

How about this one guys? I tried to add a bit more realism... sorta. more flowing lines, rather than blocky crap. The only thing I realized I dont like about this one, the right side looks a bit cluttered with all of the "folds" in the cloth.

EDIT 2 New sketch

Like these changes? Its not much, but I like it better.

The etch is going to be going on the INSIDE of this piece of plexi. Im going to have to reverse the image, transfer, and then etch.

Also, Ive had a few people ask what all the dark splotches and stuff are... mainly, it all consists of shadows, folds in the clothing, and space fillers... =p

The eyes are too almond-shaped. The glance is not congruent with the posture or the position of the head. What's going on with his left shoulder?

Pirates are better then Ninjas!!! But that is a nice skecth still... Eyes need to look better though...

Might as well get it over with.

Ninja pirate zombie robot mecha penguins for the win! :D

Anyway....now that I look at it more, the head looks a bit disproportionate...squeeze it down some.

The left shoulder is why the head needs to be tilted a bit... hes supose to seem like hes leaning to one side in a battle stance or something while he is gazing at something...

edit: Im going to fix the sketch now so that I can etch and paint stuff tomorow.

Original post edited-

I agreed with what alot of you guy said about the head size, it looked kinda big. I think I made this one look a little better.

On my left/his right side of his head, the cloth looks like it needs better shading. But since it's an etch, I don't think it will matter too much.

I cant think of a good way to make it all work with all the folds. Im going to erase a bunch of the right side and do more of what I did on the left side.

Overall, the head look better? Eyes?

It does look better. His right/my left eye is a bit too almondy still, but you nailed shape.

That's way better! Once you get this nailed, it'll be a pretty cool case window.

I still think you could make a better disambiuation of the cape over the left shoulder and behind his arm.

Its not really a cape... Its just the clothing, and parts of the shoulder area folded over... kinda confusing.

Changes on new sketch in original post!

i lik the changes....the shading doesnt look soo aggressive and juss flows :)

something about the eyes makes the ninja look a little light in the ninja stars.

If your going to etch it, I think it could turn out pretty good. Fix the eyes more of a darker eye without an iris could go well.

Good Luck

Well, thing is, I wanted to make it obvious that he was looking over in that direction, I just thought it made the entire picture look better by doing that instead of having him looking at you or having his eyes a solid color. Im going to think on it for another day before I etch it.

I see you want the ninja to apear to be looking towards something. Maybe when you pull it onto your computer mess around with some digital effects (if u're interested in that kinda thing) and put some fire in those eyes, like a reflection or eminating glow. The eyes are always the focal point of almost any facial drawing so spend the most time on them.

Etching fire into the tiny eyeball might be a bit difficult... :p

On a side note-

Does anyone think instead of etching it to the piece of plexi in the picture, I could cut another piece of plexi and put it on the backside of the panel.

_ is just a space filler, each section of | is a different layer.

I was originally going to etch it onto the inside of the outside piece of plexiglass, but now Im thinking that if I somehow crack, destroy, or implode it then Ide have to re-etch when fixing it.

I like what you've done so far. My opinion/advice would be to move the line for the nose a nudge to the left and raise the cloth covering the lower half of the face up a little bit.
The nose looks like it doesn't line up with the shapes on the cloth, and as for the latter part I just always think of ninja as trying to conceal as much of themselves as possible.

Hope that's useful to you, not trying to be really critical or anything. Can't wait to see it when it's done. :)

I NEED SOMEONE TO HOST MY PICTURES FOR ME, please =). My hosting as 40mb of bandwidth left. Just PM me if you can. My case is almost finished, I just need to work on the front and its done.

Finished Etch.

I just took these pics... unfortunatly Im still in this process of completeing this mod. After I moved to Texas (about a month ago) I realized I have no place to work on anything here. Recently I decided I should be working on something, so I purchased some LEDs and wired up some lights.

In this picture there are 10 leds total, 5 on the left, 5 on the right. I used a piece of plexi glass (thick "strip of it with two holes for the +/- of each LED) and wired them all up. Anyway, Im highly satisfied with the results... the pictures dont do it justice.

It does have a bit of dust behind it, Im still working on making these "dust proof" so dust cant get BEHIND the plexi in between it and the case panel.
