I was using my computer last night and everything was fine. Went to sleep, woke up this morning and now anytime I open a program windows (windows 7 HP is the operating system) either crashes completely or takes forever to load menus or close programs (that is when it can actually open them)

Checked for virus's and nothing came up, looked in my restore points to see if anything was off and apparently at 3.00AM there was a 'critical update' that was applied. Am currently restoring to that point to see what happens.

Anyone have clues? If restoring does not fix the issue ill run a check disk on my drives, both of them are rather old (the youngest is 4 years old)
