Creative X-FI Audio Console and EAX question.....

I have the mode set to Game Mode and speakers set to 5.1. In the Audio Console, there is an EAX tab. Do I need to check the box next to EAX to enable EAX effects in games, or is that option for EAX effects in windows and music???

Yep, check the box to enable EAX effects in games.

Be aware that some games that support EAX 4/5 may have a setting that you would also need to select so the game uses EAX. I do not know if the in game settings have the ability to affect this check box but it could be possible.

I have another related question about setting up the X-Fi for gaming. Before playing a game using headphones, should I ensure that Windows is configured for 7.1 channel sound output while the X-Fi console is configured for headphones with CMSS 3-D Headphones selected?

Or should I configure both Windows and the X-Fi console for headphone output?

It's confusing how to best use CMSS 3-D Headphones. I know that Headphone output should be selected in the X-Fi console, but should every other Windows and game setting be set to 7.1 channel surround or headphones?
