Creative Titanium HD + Onboard Sound

First, some background info:
Logitech z-560 4.1 system
Grado SR225i
Creative Titanium HD
Gigabyte X58-UD3R (audio chip is realtek AL889 I believe)

Is it possible to use both the onboard sound and my Titanium HD at the same time?

The reason I ask is that my Logitech system uses analog connections (front and rear) and the Titanium HD only has mic/headphone/L/R/opt out/opt in. At the moment, I can't use my speakers and am restricted to just my headphones unless I turn the Azalia (onboard) codec back on in BIOS.

I suppose I could just flip it on and see what happens but I would rather see if anyone has run into this dilemma before.
 
Now your results may vary.

We have ran a Titanium HD and an Auzentech X-Meridian 2G simultaneously for months. We merely switch the default sound playback or recording device as we see fit.

The problem you may encounter is that you may have an IRQ conflict with another device if you enable your onboard sound.

The light at the end of the tunnel is that you can simply disable your onboard if it conflicts with your dedicated sound card and uninstall the onboard software.

During a testing session, we actually had the Realtek, Auzentech, and Creative cards enabled at the same time. It was just slightly difficult looking at so many devices in the sound and recording control panel.

Lastly, your mileage may vary, but it is possible with certain motherboards.

So I gave it a try and it looks like everything is working well. Pretty much everything happened like EarlKeim said it would. More devices showup in playback devices/recording and that's about it.
