Well it is a USB headset so that doesn't work. Bloatware? With the X-Fi sure but the new Zx is much better. Anyay the asus is still a good card. Might want to rethink your headphones though.

I am open to suggestions. What do you use? I hate to buy something new, not like it and have to send it back. I am going with what I had cause they were comfortable, main reason. Been searching newegg just not sure what to buy.
 
The soundblaster arena were kind of the hidden gem in regards to gaming headsets when they were released. Supposed to be great sound quality and very comfortable for the money. There shouldn't be any driver issues. Which xonar did you buy?
 
Look at something by Sennheiser. Like the Sennheiser 419 for example. Add a cheap desktop, clip on or the mod mic to it and you have a better sounding headset.

I have some Sennheiser 558 headphones and use the mic that came with my Creative Zx. Stunning clarity for gaming.

I bought just the 5.1 DGX that I am very happy with so far. I did own the X-fi and I never liked all the software that was needed to be installed for it. I only use the headset mainly for guild group ups. But they are a very comfortable and I can be heard clearly.

If they worked for you there's really no reason to try something else that might not be as comfortable all in the name of sounding better. It might not actually sound better to you. Usually I would never recommend a gaming headset over some decent headphones but for that price and the fact you know it works well for you, I don't see any reason to switch.

That was kinda what I thought. But after having these for a while I thought maybe there was some new technology out there I didn't know about that the savvy members of the forum were aware of and might tell me.
I am supposed to get a 10% off coupon good on Amazon from Creative to buy another headset. Apparently they don't have the ability to repair these now. Either way I am going to get another set of the same while I can.

I bought a sound card when I built my system. I have a 2.1 Swan speaker system and use them mainly for gaming. The headset is for guild groups and communication.
