I'm not sure if this is the best forum for this question, but I wanted to know what kind of software that is either very inexpencive, or free, that would allow me to create my own sounds and/or music?

I want to make some music for games and such that I make but every piece of software I've seen is either very expencive, or I need a keyboard or something to make sounds. Now I may have to do that later if it's a better method, but for now I only want a software solution.

Do you want something that does music notation or something that is like an analog synth?

check out www.flstudio.com

Used to be called Fruity Loops. I've used it for quite some time now and i love it. this isn't a program you can make sounds with but you can use supplied samples or throw in your own that you make with a different program. they have a free demo to try out.

Haven't tried it yet, but this looks very interesting... Free multimedia based Linux system, runs off CD, needs no installation and has a lot of cool looking apps...
