Creating a table of contents from merged PDFs in Acrobat

Anyone have experience working with Acrobat know how to do this? I have a manual-type document that has about a zillion chapters, each chapter in its own PDF. I want to merge them all into one single unified PDF and add a table of contents in the front, which will allow me to jump to whichever chapter I want by clicking.

Or does Acrobat not allow this?
