I'm not sure if this is the correct sub-forum for my question, but here it goes...

I'm looking to create an email address that will forward all emails sent to it to about ~40 other addresses. At the sametime, only the 40 people in this list will be able to send emails to this address to prevent spam, etc. I'm pretty much trying to make it simple for family wide emails.

Anyone have suggestions on how to do this?

Thanks,

I would be interested to know how to do this as well.

A school I went to used this and you could always tell that for example they sent an email to dorm1floor2@school.edu and it would be sent to all the kids in dorm1 on floor 2.

Seemed pretty neat

It might not meet all of your requirements, but if you use Outlook, you can simply create a Distibution List in your contacts. That would make it simple for you to send out to those people, but that's about it. It wouldn't have one publicly accessible e-mail address. You'd probably need to go through some kind of hosting service to set that part up.

That's very common and easy to do, using my above suggestions. If you have access to the mail server, you can create these groups, just like someone might have marketing@company.com as a DL, going to the entire marketing team.

As already linked, Yahoo groups has a feature for this I think.

IF you get your own hosting, like via bluehost, they have a mailing list setup that will do that.

That's gonna be the tough part. I don't know of any way to do that or I think I'd be able to make some serious cash. ;)
Like others said, creating groups will do what you want for sending to a select group of people. You can also set rules to auto forward.
