Crazy Windows 7 freeze at desktop! Video driver? I took video of what happens

ok, my friends asus laptop with a 220m in it freezes when you boot into windows 7 right after the taskbar and everything loads. it happens every time no matter what hardware you have plugged into the machine. if you boot into safe mode, it works just fine for as long as you need. and if you boot into normal mode with the video card uninstalled it works fine until windows installs the driver and asks for reboot.

check it out this is what it looks like when it freezes. the screen does this crazy seizure, flicker thing. i have tried uninstalling video driver, doing driver scrub, and reinstalling it. no luck.

any help would be greatly appreciated
 
+1 for failing hardware. The base VGA driver doesn't turn on a lot of specific circuitry that the correct driver will.
 
the laptop was bought from newegg and it has 1 year warranty from asus...so my friend will have to contact asus to get it fixed/replaced?

this is why i don't buy laptops
