Crazy high QX6700 temps...

I spent today building a system:

QX6700
Bad Axe 2
Zalman 9700
8800GTX
Stacker 830
7 120mm fans

This thing, according to core temp, is really hot :( I took out the mobo and reseated the 9700 and the same thing :(

I'm using the Zalman paste (light coat on cpu only, not on heatsink) and I just can't figure out what the deal is.

Core Temp right no shows: 57, 51, 57, 51 and that's idle with just this IE window open.

System ran 3DMark 03, 05 and 06 fine and its been nothing but stable but the temps are freaking me out :p

I ran Cinebench and it got to 95c!!!! under load on two of the cores, the others were in the high 80s.

Thoughts?

Too many fans...*Yes , that can be a problem too.

Leave just 2 fans for exhaust.Reseat the CPU cooler , make sure you put a very thin layer on the HS , don't twist the cooler once put on the cpu.

i have a similar setup too and my temps are high as well
i cranked the zalman fan speed up and speedfan temps are in the 40's but core temp are still in the 60's and up
been worried about the temps myself

as what was said before way too many fans. The trick with a case is to have negative pressure inside, i.e. slightly higher exhaust volume then intake. What i would do is have 2 intake and 2 exhaust fans only. either 2 at the cpu or 1 at cpu and 1 at top of case to extract the heat.

My case is a Thermaltake soprano (ok not the best but hey it works) and it has 1 120mm intake and 1 120mm exhaust, 1 90mm intake over the video and northbirdge, my psu has a matching 90mm fan for exhaust. (keep in mind that due to air restriction in the front where the fan sits reduces the volume of air the fan can move.)I then used a dremmil (SP?) and cut the fan grids off my case and slaped the fans back. I then built a air direction unit to direct the expelled air upwards, even my video card air i direct upwards (X850XT) as a result my cpu is roughly 12~15 C above abiant (keep in mind i have a D940 and also 4 HDD sitting behind the 120mm fan...) which i think the temps arent bad considering the cpu i am using.

Remember that 120 mm fans move 64CF~75CF if air per minute..... so do u really need that many??

As for my cpu, well i considered getting a C2D. but i just dont see the need, when i compress my home made movies from my camcorder i let it run overnight.. And as for games well i dont seem to have many issues, FEAR runs great, BATTLEFIELD 2 as well, i will shift to quad core when that goes native (share the same cache).
