About three years back, I stripped the power and drive bays out of an old case aand put them in a small cardboard box. I also inlined thin alluminum on the inside. After some tweaking. I was able to make a very solid case, complete with a case door and whatnot. Even the back was covered with cardboard, with only holes for the ports. I was proud of that box.

I seriously could have left this "cardboard box" out in public without anybody touching it. You couldn't tell it was a PC. I brought it to a lot of LAN parties too. I originally designed it for LAN parties because I wanted it to stand out.

What is the craziest case you've ever had/made?
 
I made an all plexi one for my first attempt at making my own case.

Needless to say, I was 16 without a job, and used the thinnest plexi around. I also used Vehicle Exhaust and epoxied them to the fans so I can create windtunnels in the case HAHA. That was so funny.

Other than that, i took an old emachine that went through 3 different modding phases.. took of the panels.. used Bondo to create a planet-like surface. Painted it. Hand brushed it so it looked like a planet, and the bondo embedded 2 battle scarred Gundams inside. Needless to say, the computer doesn't work after all that trouble of making the case LOL.

well, i've never had any of them, but i sure do wish i had (i hope these count):

CM centurion CAC case modded with screen and speakers, as well as matching keyboard and mouse and a smaller bit of vent off a subaru WRX sti (yes, really) and watercooled of course:

there are plenty more mods there on those forums, so i don't think they'll mind if you have a look around, or even join up. It is a dedicated watercooling forum if anyone is interested, and although it is in the UK, its a great site, and could be a great reference point for anyone starting off with watercooling. (sorry if i sound like i'm trying to promote it)

I have a via epia board in a US postal box with 200w psu and 80gb hdd. I use it for a file dump so I can dump files or grab files if I'm on the road, works quite well. and its just sitting on a shelf, you'd never know it was a pc.
 
Yeah auto paint, but I added a different kind of paint to create a glaze and the back door just didnt take. Just a bad idea to mix different kinds of paint. One will act like a solvent and eat through the other. This spring maybe I'll do it over...
