I built a computer 2 years ago, the one in my profile. I have upgraded the PSU to a 750W Ultra Lifetime series but other than that the stats are correct. I have been getting random bluescreen crashes since I built it but they are definitely coming much more frequently now. I backed it up a couple of months to a previous known good point and it's still crashing. I have tried to turn off the Mobo utilities and take it down to default settings just to insure the optimized settings weren't causing the crash. This is the second set of sticks of RAM in this thing and the second video card. I'm at a loss for ideas here on how to narrow down this problem to an adequate solution.
 
Who Crashed said it 10 out of 12 issues are Windows crashing. I think the other ones are video card.
 
Do you know how to obtain the crash dump files? If not, let me know...reviewing the crash dump files can reveal what's causing your PC to crash so much.

You can also run MEMTEST, to rule out any possible memory issues.
 
Not sure how to get the crash dump file. I haven't done a mem test recently. Please refresh my memory on how to do that.
 
XFX HD-687A-ZHFC Radeon HD 6870 1GB 256-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 2.1 x16 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card .......This is the video card I have been using since 2 months after building this computer. This will be the 3rd time RMA'ing it in just under 2 years. Any advice here? is there some compatibility issue here I am unaware of? Could it be a bad slot on the mobo?
 
ok the video card is a 2.1, the slot is a 2.0. Is there a special driver update to accommodate that or will it run fine the way it is?
 
OK I'll try that and get back with you. Since removing the memory card I've done some Windows Memtests and no problems have been revealed. Hopefully this one you've provided is more extensive. Thanks.
 
video card not memory card. I have not put the memtest on a USB stick yet. I couldn't find mine, have to go buy one.
