Crappy overclock on X800 Pro?

Well, "crappy" is subjective. But anyways, I've got an ATi X800 Pro that I've flashed to 16 pipes, and I currently run it at 510/560 constantly. I just put an ATi Silencer on it and it runs the fan at 100%, and during games, at this load, the core temperature never breaks 40. Now, when I bump it up to 530/560 and run 3DMark05, it runs fine, and never breaks 50 degrees (C). Once I get to 540 core, though, all bets are off and the machine dies during benching, with ATitool logs showing the core never breaking 50 as well. I've got the core voltage up to about 1390mV with a pencil mod, and I'm still getting some really unsatisfactory overclocks. Is there anything I can do to combat the crashing or am I just pushing the card too far?

my card does the same thing. i have an MSI x800 pro vivo flashed to an xt pe, and i cant get it to go much further than the stock pe speeds (520/560).

i look at it this way: i only paid 400 bucks for an xt pe.

I would set it to 525 and leave it at that. Getting 16 pipes is great as it is. Not everyone will have a crazy OC. (Like those bastards getting 480 on their 6800GTs!!!! I HATE YOU!!! :D )

Yeah I like seeing the 450+ cores on the GT"s only to watch them actually score lower in benchmarking and games because the card can't actually handle it. Getting ultra speeds is nice however, which most can.

Your crappy overclock beats mine!
My core wont go past 500 without problems while the memory goes to 570 no problem.
This is watercooled!
Oh well the extra pipes were a bonus and i find little reason to overclock the card anyway as it is damn fast at stock clocks.
:p

yes! be happy you got the extra pipes!!!!!! that's all that really matters because the pipes are more important than the extra clocks, anyways back on subject, i think that is the max your core can go if it's not hot at all and you did a voltmod.

Thats wierd...I've had 2 Pro VIVO's modded to XT PE and both have clocked higher, first to 560, other to 550...strange....seems to be pot luck....

When u flashed did u flash the ATI bios over the Gigabyte bios? dunno if its true/would actual help but I hear the ATI bios is better for clocking.....
