crap, burning smell lol

Was getting annoyed by a new loud fan and had an old fan controller
so the thing is it uses a molex pass thru adapter with a small port for the fan dial to attach.

Hooked the adapter to the fan then the minute I touched the molex plug to the power supply I smelled burning so immediately shut down. Everything seems to be fine but was a bit unpleasant since it is a new system build.

what the hell do you think happened? bad pass thru connector?

Could it be that you overloaded the fan controller? What size fan did you plug in to the controller?

good point, actually it was a 120mm fan

and was trying to connect it to the power..then semmed like the minute the contacts touched the smell. I think your right cause I smelled the controller and it has the burnt smell to it and also now that I retraced my steps Im pretty sure I conected 2 pin controller plug backwards.
