Cradle Won't Charge Mouse

I bought the Logitech MX Duo Desktop a couple months ago and love it. Have nothing bad to say about how it works. But I am having one problem. The base won't charge the mouse anymore. The mouse and the keyboard still work beautifully and all the lights light up at the right times on the base (reciever) unit. The LED battery indicator on the mouse works too, as I found out when it started flashing red at me, meaning that it was close to being dead. So, like any good user, I placed the mouse in the cradle to charge and when I came back the next morning, it was dead. The mouse, that is. The keyboard and the lights on the base unit still work great, but the base now, for some reason, will not charge the mouse. I have tried to place and re-place the mouse in the cradle and wiggle it all around to try and make the LED battery indicator on the mouse show that it's charging (flashing green) and I can't seem to get it to do it. I had to take the batteries out of the mouse and charge them in my NiMH battery charger (that happens to be right next to it) and it works again (the mouse, not the charging part of the cradle). Now, I understand that I can just keep charging the batteries in my seperate charger, but that's a hassle.

Anyone have any ideas as to why the cradle won't charge anymore. It just stopped one day. I'm really confused and I can't find anything about it anywhere on the Web.

My friend has the same problem with that setup, he has to wiggle his alot and slam it in there. 5 min later the light finally comes on. tyme to buy a new one i guess?

You have pretty much proved the charging circuity in the mouse base is a gonner. Unless the contacts are very dirty but you mentioned moving the mouse around etc. so I doubt that. Unfortunalty that stuff is not made to be repairable. Hate to beat a dead mouse but, yep, time for a new one. At least you will have a spare mouse and set of batteries. Take the batteries out of the old mouse before you toss it in the "spares" drawer.

Being an Electrical Engineer I would find some way to get into the base of the charging cradle and using a volt ohm meter have a fair chance of figuring out what was wrong. The end result would be 2 hours of wasted time, the base marred, scratched and probally not going back together well (i.e it would look like crap when I was done) and if I had a spare diode, voltage requlator chip or whatever did actually fail, more than likely it still would not work after I hot glued the thing back together.
But thats me. Very little these days is made to be repaired, sigh.

It's only a couple months old... And I tried cleaning both the mouse and the cradle contacts with a pencil eraser and no dice. Nothing seems to help. NO matter how many time I put it in the cradle and how hard I slam it into the charger. Nothing.

ok how bout this then, go to staples/wal-mart buy a new one, put the old one in the box and take it back, tell them that it didnt work and u have changed your mind on purchasing it because u think this could be a common problem and u want a refund cause ur gonna look around. they will atleast be able to exchange it from logitech. it may not be the most honest thing to do, but its what i do this is if its still new looking, u really just need the new cradle...
