Hi guys.. i'm trying to overclock my new Q6600 and it's currently at 334x9.. but when i run CPU-Z, its reading my multiplier as 334x6.. so that's 2Ghz only.. but when i right click my MY Computer, the reading is correct. I have it running on 3Ghz..

here's my specs:

Abit IP35 Pro
Q6600
4Gig G.Skill
Evga 8800GTS 640mb
Corsair 620 PSU
Vista Ultimuate 64

has any of you experience this glitch?

Turn off SpeedStep in the BIOS. Do a search...lots of posts about this recently.

Bottom line: the processor moves from 6x FSB to 9x FSB as demand increases. It is a power saving feature, and doesn't hurt anything.

Sure. Glad to help.

It may be called SpeedStep or EIST. Also, C1E and TM2 are two other "throttling" apps in the BIOS. They may be the culprit too.

ya.. saw something like that, but i didnt disable it.. just the speedstep... thanks agian... much appreciated.
