cpu-z qx6700 question

my spec's as follows;
mobo; EVGA 680i SLI
CPU;QX6700
RAM; 2X 1gig Corsair

When I open CPUz i get this reading
core speed 1740.1 Mhz
mulitplier X 6.0
bus speed 290.0 Mhz
rated FSB 1160.0 Mhz

This don't seem to be the normal speed of the quad core.
but I notice under load, like running spybot all the clocks look normal where it should be.
The core is back to 2.600 mhz multipliter to X10 and so on...
Is this normal reading for the QX6700? Because I have my other rig P4 3.2ghz HT, CPUz shows it at 3.2ghz whether is under load or idle.

It's the EIST or C1E function. Can't remember which is which. But it lowers the cpu speed when at idle / low load to reduce power consumption.

Oh that's g2 be in the BIOS.
Should I leave it alone or disable that feature?, so I can operate at 2.6
with the C1E on, will it reduce performance or will have not effect but just save power?

these feature are for power saving, wont harm anything. the cpu multi will jump up when you load something (like a game or benchmark). as i recall eist lowers the clock and c1e lowers the volts on idle
