I was wondering if it's worth buying a new motherboard to go with a E6850 ? Considering a Gigabyte P35C-DS3.

Or keep my current mobo and buy a Q6600 even if I would not overclocked it ?

Other than gaming I don't have any specific needs, I play at 1680x1050 resolution.

I wouldn't see a need to upgrade the motherboard if it supports the chip. The only reason would be to get a better overclocking board or to get extra features you want.
