Hey all,

I've got an HP Pavillion DV8000 running a Turion ML-34 1.6Ghz processor right now. That's coupled to an HP 309B stock system board.

I'm curious if anyone out there has done a processor upgrade on one of these laptops and could tell me what cpu upgrade options there are as far as speeds. I'm wondering if I could get away with putting in one of the 2.0Ghz or 2.2Ghz Turions?

Anyone?

Odds are against you on changing the CPU in your notebook. Most CPU in notebooks are soldered into the motherboard. You will also have to make sure the cooling system for the notebook can handle the extra heat the faster CPU puts out. You should call HP up they will tell you if you can upgrade the CPU. Also by changing the CPU you will probably void your warranty.

Thanks for the reply. Not worried about the warranty. It'll be out before I would do this swap anyhow. I know it's not soldered onto the motherboard. It's a ZIF socket. (I've seen pictures of the motherboard)

Probably will contact HP....though I expect the response that it's not upgradeable.
