Hi im running an e6600 on an asus p5wdg2 ws pro and i have a zalman 7700 cooler and i used artic silver 5.
The idle temperature on my cpu is between 39c-40c and the motherboard is at 28C. I dont have the little switch, used to raise the rpm, installed for my zalman 7700 and mayeb i should use it?
I havent checked my temperature at load cause i still havent installed the OS , i check this temperatures in the bios, maybe the bios is reporting them to high?
The guy that install the cpu for me sayd this temperatures are in the average.
what you guys think?

The Zalman 7700 is a fairly old Heatsink... (in computer years) Do you have the AlCu model or the Cu model? I'd remove and reinstall it just in case, and be very careful of the AS5 application (too much is bad too). If you're not using the Zalman Fanmate, then I can assume you're plugged directly into a motherboard header or using a Molex adapter. If using a Molex, you're running full speed as soon as you turn on the PC. If you're using a motherboard header, you can probably adjust fan speeds based on temps right in your BIOS.

From the way I understand it... ASUS has always UNDER reported temps (in BIOS).

I borrowed a friend's LASER temp probe just cause I didn't trust the temp readings I saw on my mother's Abit IC7-Max... and as I figured (from various articles around the net), the temps were fine, cause Abit tends to report HIGHER than actual temps.

Laser thermometers are awesome.... too bad they're damned expensive.

Good Luck
