CPU temp reporting problem with Asus BIOS update

I just did a build with a n new P8P67 WS Revolution motherboard and immediately upgraded the BIOS to 1402 using EZ Flash 2 with no problems. However I noticed an immediate drop in the reported CPU temp in the bios from about 39 on bootup to a ridiculously low 23 with the new bios - same as room temperature! My concern is that with this low temperature assessment the fan controller in the bios will not speed up my temp-controlled PWM fan on my cpu cooler when it really needs it, since what HW monitor reports as a CPU package temp of 39C is being reported as 23C in BIOS. Consequently when the real CPU goes to 60C, the bios will think its running at 44C and not speed up the fan enough to keep the temp of the CPU down properly. Anyone run into this issue?

It's a common thing that with some BIOS versions the AI Suite reads lower temperatures.
The main cause of this is that AI Suite reads an uncommon CPU temperature register from the Nuvoton chip. :(

You should post your problems on the Asus support forum too, probably they would make a new BIOS or a new AI Suite, good luck with that.

The register temperature is derived from the hottest core temperature. Just like DTS it reads as an offset to 0 and needs a temperature adjustment to show absolute temperature. Instead of using Tjmax they use a lower value, my P67 EVO with BIOS 1850 sets the offset 10C lower than tjmax. Some may say this is to represent an IHS temperature but all it is is core temp with a fixed offset. A real IHS to core temperature differential will change with load and not be fixed as it is with the above method.
