CPU Temp -20c?

I'm in the process of getting my CPU, specs in my sig, to 4Ghz and when I to the M.I.T of my Gigabyte motherboard it shows -20c. When I load defaults it shows the temp at ~25c.

Should I worry about this?
 
It looks like it might be a borked sensor or a BIOS reading error. You might want to try some software like HardwareMonitor to see if that reading is consistent inside and outside of the BIOS.
 
Core temp says 39c-42c, when I restarted it it went back to normal. Do you think its is safe to overclock?

Not sure i understand you correctly. By going back to normal do you mean 20c after reboot? At idle your 39/42c seems right.... i would kill to get mine to run in the low 20s at idle!

Once you get some type of accurate monitoring going i see no reason why you can't overclock it.
 
AFAIK any temp program will fetch the temperature from the same sensor the BIOS uses. A BIOS update may be in order.

the BIOS uses a sensor on the mobo, programs like coretemp generally query the actual on die sensors on the CPU itself.

better to trust the latter.
