CPU running much much hotter than normal

Hey guys, my CPU is running about 10-12 degrees hotter than normal under light-normal load, and 15 degrees hotter under full load.

All of my fans are working and the room temp is reasonable (about 60-70f) so I don't really have any idea what is causing this.

I have a windowed case, so I can see everything, and there is some dust in the fans, but it's not excessive, but that's the only thing I can think of off the top of my head that might be causing the jump.

It normally runs at about 41-42C under normal load, and about 50-55C under heavy load. But lately it's at about 50C under normal load (mIRC, NAV, Mozilla) and 65C-70C under ANY full screen, acellerated graphics intensive programs (even Quakeworld!)

I assume you checked the heatsink/fan assembly for proper mounting( maybe the computer was moved recently)? Is the cpu fan slowing/dying/making noise?
 
Yeah I mounted it myself, and the temps have never gotten anywhere near this bad before. It hasn't been moved or jarred at all lately, at least to my knowledge.

No weird fan noises to report...I am really stumped. Maybe the thermal paste melted off or something...I don't know at all.

True dat ^.

I've seen my temps rise approximately 10c over the past month. At first I was stumped, but then I realized that it's just 95 degrees outside.
 
same here, my cpu is idleing around 9-13 degrees celcius higher than it did in the winter, summer just sucks for those of us using air cooling (probably isn't as big of a problem for our water/phase change brothers)
 
Well I have central air conditioning, and the vent is usually blasting right next to it...although the a/c isn't on unless it's scorching hot in the house.

So yeah maybe it is environmental, but I hope it isn't something else :(
 
How long have you been running that CPU? If it's very dusty where you are, perhaps there's a lot more dust in between the metal "fins" than you think. Maybe you should look from the side if you know what I mean.
