Can almost bake an egg.
So I have a P4 3.0E GHz Prescott (with HT). Now don't get me mistaken, I know these suckers run hot, but I was hoping to get some OC'ing done in the near future.
Anyhow, I tossed the stock HSF somewhere, and bought myself 2 other HSFs.
The first one was an aluminum that my father bought. Ran around 60C idle, 70C when playing Doom3.
Tossed that one.. on the floor. Serious, it's still there.
So I buy a Thermaltake Volcano 7+ all copper with some Arctic Silver 5. Much cooler, 45C idle and about 55C playing games. Problem is, the fan on this thing is a behemoth and makes a ton of noise.
It goes at about 6,230RPM, 2000RPM higher than the CompUSA HSF.
[edit]By the way, if it makes any difference. I have one other fan blowing air out of my case. Case temp is 30C in "Zone 1" and 35C in "Zone 2."
I'll probably end up buying a new HSF soon, along with an aluminum case (my biege case hits pretty low on the boner meter).
Any suggestions?
