hey, i gotta friend, he got some mobo, and he has a pentium 4, ok so i was playing around with his computer and i decided to go to the bios setup and check some things out. so i saw this thing and i went into in it said
CPU/DRAM Speed 100/100MHZ
ok what does that it mean when i change the speeds to 133mhz, i cant change the cpu's speed, but i can change the dram's speed to 133mhz. is this some sort of overclocking or anything? and theres another thing, theres also a thing that said CPU RATIO: Locked?
i cant change that too. what are these things.

It's not very clear what your talking about, so that's why no one is answering. Are you saying your trying to change the FSB/DRAM speeds and it's not letting you?

"i gotta friend, he got some mobo, and he has a pentium 4"

Now how exactly are we supposed to read that to know which motherboard, and which BIOS is on there? The golden rule is give too little info, get too little responses.

Simple enough. The P4's clock speed is generated by the front side bus (FSB) multiplied (a multiplier, see?) by a set amount on the CPU.

It is quad-pumped, however - so 100mhz FSB = 400mhz FSB, 133mhz FSB = 533, 200mhz FSB = 800mhz FSB...

So, the CPU has a locked multiplier ... for example, 2ghz is generated by 5x 400mhz - If that was 5x 533mhz, the clock speed would be 2.66ghz, and so forth...

Really, the whole purpose of this post is to tell you to FIX THAT $#%_*($% SIGNATURE! 10 lines or less. Gosh, thats annoying.
