CPU overheated?

today when i tried adjusting my q6600 settings a little bit to get a 1:1 ratio with my ram, i was welcomed with a screen of just a bunch of pixels lit up on the screen (this isnt screen problem), like it was just fragments of what was supposed to be shown (the windows screen). I saw only little bits of the windows screen and it was running really slow, and the sounds were getting cut off.

what i tried to do was set the FSB to 400, and lower the multi to 6, yet still keeping the stock frq of 2.4ghz, so i figured it wasnt a problem, my question is did i overheat it? im using the stock hsf, and i have never OCed this CPU as of yet.

The PC crashed, that's all. You'll probably need to play with your voltages to get it stable at that FSB, even if you aren't technically raising the CPU frequency. I'm certain it wasn't an overheat, since the PC wouldn't actually crash, it would just shut off, and there's no way that what you were doing could have risen the CPU temperatures to the point that it would trigger that.

it was just weird, it didnt want to go down without a fight, it kept on loading and the screen would just pixelate, well thanks.

When that happens, it's generally a good idea to hit the power button ASAP .

thats exactly what i did, but it took me a while to get to it lol, since its hooked up to my tv.
