I just bought a E3110 from the egg, along with a Antec earthwatts EA380 and a GIGABYTE GA-EP45-UD3R

I had to purchase a 4-pin to 8-pin adapter because I was not aware of the switch :confused. Now when I try to start the computer, it tries to start but the cpu fan does not start to spin. I am not sure what you guys talk about when you talk about PSU rails and whatnot...I'm kinda savvy but not in that technical sense, I never really learned about PSU's and I have not been up to date on CPU's. Is my mobo bad, or do I need a new PSU? The only thing I can think of is maybe the CPU isn't getting enough juice....but that's why I'm asking you guys :p
 
Take off the adapter, and just plug the 4-pin cpu connector into the 8 pin on the motherboard. It only fits one way, so don't force anything in and try again.
 
Tried it again without the adapter, with both hdd, and dvd drive unplugged. It starts for 8 seconds (fan spins), then restarts, repeatedly.
 
You gotta pull the string reeeeeally hard to get it to start:p. My kids computer dd that you may have a short to the case. Try everything out of the case on cardboard see if it happens again.
 
Your PSU looks a little underpowered. You'll probably need to swap it out for something that can handle more watts.
 
Yup, could be your psu. 34amps on 12v rails is bare minimum for your setup and depending on what type of graphics card you have it may not be nearly enough.

Also, If those crappy Intel push pin mounted heat sinks aren't locked down properly the system won't boot up. You need to make sure all four pins are fully seated and snapped in.

If you mounted your stand off pins in your case properly you shouldn't have any electrical shorts.
 
If that's all he's runnin is a 65 watt chip that psu is perfectly fine (as long as the unit isn't defective). Even with a medium range video card it would still work.

Unless he's running a GTX295 or something with similar power requirements, the EA380 is enough for his PC.
 
The minimum recommended PSU for a gtx 260 is 550w with a 36amp 12v rail. If he has anything more than a gtx 250 or 4770 in there he's under powered.

An antec 480w with a 37amp 12v rail wouldn't power my sons overclocked e8400 with HD4850.

Those specs are exaggerated so people with shitty PSUs will still be able to get by. The actual requirements are much lower than that.

There was probably something wrong with the PSU then. My HX520 with a 40A +12V rail powers my overclocked Q9550 and overclocked 4870 without any issues.

There is the possibility that the PSU is faulty. However, a properly-functioning EA380 is enough to power the OP's system, especially with all the HDs and optical drives disconnected which he attempted as well.
 
I tried what p3sty told me, I had put in some pins to lock the mobo down (but the case had already came with the raised connectors (for the screws). I took those off and it worked perfectly fine. I'm only running a 7200gs and it's working perfectly now. I guess it just wasn't grounded because of those extra screw adapters or whatever you call them...I was just so used to those older cases where you had to place them where your mobo screws went. Thanks everyone for the help!!
