Hey guys I am having some trouble With my 8700m gt (8600gts) And i think the problem might be my cpu or the ram. Any Help would be REALLY appreciated thanks.
I have a dell laptop with a core 2 duo at 2.0ghz with a 667mhz fsb and 667mhz RAM. My video card is a 8700m GT (8600GTS)
When I play Unreal Tournament 3 everything works fine at 1400x900 at max setting with 30fps steady in most maps. In some, particularly Market District my frame rate hovers around 25 and drops to 20 at some key points. Now the trouble is that reducing resolution and settings does not fix this frame rate. I dropped my settings to medium and the resolution down to 1280x720 and there was no difference. Then minimum details and 800x600 and the frame rate was still 25 in some places.
What was so curious was that when I stared at a particular scene my fps would slowly climb up, (25...26...27...28...29...30) But as soon as i move it goes way down.
Is my cpu bottlenecking my video card? Could it be bad ram? I tried different drivers and its the same. 25fps at 800x600 MINIMUM details is very bad i think.
Any help?
