CPU heat

I had to format my pc because i had a system startup problem... before the format is was idling at 23c and load at like 32/33

after the format im now idling at 27c and load 35/36

is there anyone who has had this problem
i stepped up the voltage to 1.6 and it still stayed at 23c... i cleaned out the cpu fan so the heat could move... i noticed that the processor came right out of the socket when i removed the CPU fan? is this bad?

also is mixing 2 kinds of thermal paste bad?

athlon 64 3200+ 2.0ghz(running @ 2.209ghz w/ 1.584 volts)
the cpu fan is the thermaltake volcano series
the one that sounds like a hair dresser at max speed

I can't see any reason to mix thermal pastes. Just buy a tube of Arctic Silver 5 and follow the application instructions on their website. It's about the best thermal paste you can buy so will hopefully bring down the temps, especially if your current issues are to do with a bad application of thermal paste.

As for ripping the CPU straight out of the socket, I managed the same thing (it didn't take a lot of upward pressure). Nothing was bent or broken and it works fine still, so I wouldn't worry about it.

Clean up the old paste first. It wipes off easily with a cloth and just a little bit of alcohol.

I would think that stepping up the voltage would increase heat, not reduce it.

i was using arctic silver 5... and it did that??? im thinkin it could be my case... its very tight in there. I have a bigger case, should i use that?
