Well my first install was great.... no leaks at all...

So after I took it apart and put it in a new case. The tubes weren't as tight (clearflex 60) so I bought some metal clamps to hold them down. I thought I had them all tight and when I filled the system water dripped on to my vid card like a running faucet. The gpu also leaked. I removed the cpu block off the cpu and tightened it. I dried off the mobo and graphics card and let it sit about 36 hours before I powered on teh system. It booted up fine the first time then it rebooted by itself.. and when it went back into windows again the screen was all screwed up. DOS prompt and boot text is perfect but the windows GUI is all wacked out. Opened my case again and found the cpu barb/tube leaking very slowly. I've cleaned off the card with alcohol and let it dry for a bit.

How long should I wait till I can power on the system again? I don't think the card is fried because it'll boot into windows then reboot and lockup the second time. Also the boot text is perfect... Just gui is messed up.

24 hours should do it, if you take the side panel off and point a fan at your vid card.

Running it even a little damp encourages corrosion.

I'll put a fan on it. should I remove the card and leave the socket open? the agp socket.. I'm not sure if it is wet inside or not

If your not sure the apg slot is dry, yeah pull it out. Don't want any lingering moisture.

those metal hose clamps are slightly uneven (and tear drop shaped) at one point. You've gotta tighten them down ridiculously tight or slightly loose.

System is up now. Seems to be fine ATM. yeah I know about that. I have them rediculously tight :)

I'll get some pics of my new system sometime next week.

Well the video card is still acting funky. Getting some garbage on the screen after about 10 minutes of uptime. Also some artifacts in 3dmark 2001. Guess I should let it sit another day. I have had that box fan on there for about 24 hours.

Could there be another slow leak? I don't feel any moisture on teh block top or any spots of water on the card.

Nuke the video card PCB with a hair dryer for 3 mintues of so every few hours. May speed things up.

Maybe you should clean off the back of your card with some rubbing alcohol or something. There might be some of the additives from your water left on the card.

This happened to me once when I was running antifreeze/water, and I had to clean all the evaporated antifreeze off before it worked.
