I ordered a i7-2600k and 7970 for my new build ... I didn't want to go full watercooling because 1- they will be in a bitfenix prodigy; 2) it's too expensive for my blood ($400 full loop with 120 +200 + 240mm rads)
So I bought an H100 and a Antec Kuhler 920 to cool both (Paying under $100 for both combined
)
I also purchased 4 Corsair SP120 High performance fans [which will be undervolted], so that will affect the performance of the H100 and Kuhler 920 ...
I just need a place to figure out my thoughts, but I'm also asking you guys ...
Should I run the H100 on the GPU or CPU ?
Based on this [biased] review [Link], one can notice that the 120mm rad 920 performs on-par with the dual rad H100.
Logic time:
The 920 120mm cools equally as the 240mm H100. Since the 920 has to make up for the smaller cooling surface, I would suggest that it has massively better fans.
So logically we could deduce that with the new fans, the H100 *should* still cool better? Assuming that the H100 fans were worse to begin with, the H100 would logically benefit from the most improvement ... The 920 wouldn't have as much to gain.
So what I'm thinking of doing is putting the H100 on the CPU, and the Antec Kuhler on the GPU.
Your thoughts, [H]?
Edit:
After some more research, I found this:
Seems like the H100 is the clear choice for the CPU
