CPU FSB vs. RAM FSB - Which to push?

im trying to tweak my A64 setup, and im curious about which FSB i should be tweaking the most... you can drop down the RAM FSB a bit and crank the CPU FSB and vice versa. my question is, what is the best approach for best performance?

im looking at my setup to do similar to Anand's A64 3000+ OC (im using the exact same setup), where he got his to a 1:1 ratio at 290FSB. (OCZ Plat Rev. 2).

now in this case, would it make sense to back the RAM FSB down some, and push up the CPU FSB? i have been told however, that the northbridge doesnt like much north of 325+Mhz.

so, any comments/suggestions? im interested to see the performance differences.
 
1:1 with pc3200 at 290? Impossible that's 200 to 290, that will fry your chip faster than running out butt-naked in the sahara desert.

They did a 5:4 most likely

In order to do this, you increase your vcore and vdimms first then start overclocking the FSB on both the CPU and RAM one after another to keep the ratio.

for example 250 x 9 CPU to 200 RAM, 5:4
 
you are confusing terms. The FSB is the frontside bus, and it refers to the channel between the northbridge and the CPU. The formula for CPU speed is Multiplier times FSB=CPU speed. You use deviders to set the speed of the ram. A 1:1 devider would mean that if your FSB is set to 200, your ram will be at 200 also. I bet you know most of this already.

not necessarily. im at 275FSB 1:1 ratio right now, and holding firm. same setup as AT, down to the timings. my new PS is coming tomorrow, gonna try for a little higher. boots at 290, but doesnt get to windows. my v settings are 1.5 and 2.85 respectively, which is well within safe borders. AT's article makes no mention of a divider either.
 
few people been quoting their PC3200 running WAY WAY pass DDR500 speeds :eek:

but none of them mention what brand, type or make their RAMS are
 
I think Crucial Ballistix can run a wide spectrum of timings. I have the PC4000 version, and it goes from 2-2-2 @ 200 to 3-4-4 @ 278 1:1. I wouldnt be surprised if the PC3200 version does the same.
