I have a amd 3800+ x2 and i was wondering if i could use my CM Hyper 6 on it. I think itz too heavy but i am going to also hold it up with some zipties just in case it will fall one day. Do you guys think itz a good idea to install the cpu fan or is it too heavy?

i use to have a xp-90. For some reason i didn't like it very much =(

So i tryed something new like the hyper 6. im just afraid that it is too heavy for the cpu.

Unless you have unlidded your X2 theres no problem with your cooler.

nah i didn't unlid it. So i can use the hyper 6 on it without any problems? Yea i already have the hyper 6. I had it for around 7 months now. Just finally decided to use it lol. Still new in box under my bed and everything.

oh, sorry I thought u were considering buying

actually the risk is not to the cpu, but the mobo, the pcb is under alot of stress due to the torque a tall 800g hsf creates

yes but what are you going to tie it to ? still the board so the stress will unfortunately remain

hmmm one question. How does it put stress on the motherboard if the cpu is standing sideways? instead of just facing up top putting all the weight on the mobo but wat if it was hooked on sideways having zipties holding it. The zipties would be tied to a bar that my case has. Could that still work?

its the torque that this weight creates
here is an easy example, pick up a 2L pepsi bottle (or something else tall and heavy) and hold it vertically, then pick it up by the neck and hold it horizontally

you could add the zip ties as a fail safe, but dunno if they'll help the board
