I'm looking for an adapter that I can put between my CPU's heatsink and 80mm fan so that I can distribute the air being pushed onto the entire base of the heatsink instead missing on the core of the metal. I'm thinking it would look like something like
Code:
Top View
########
+-------+
|ooooooo|
|ooooooo|
|ooooooo|
|ooooooo|
+-------+

Side View (v is suppose to represent airflow)
#########

 v v v v Air being push to heatsink
  v v v

|vvv vvv| Fan
|vvv vvv|

|vvvvvvv| Adapter

Does anyone know if such an adapter exists?

They sell some on newegg for like $3 or so, but I personally just made my own. I cut the guts out of an 80mm fan and installed it between my normal cooling fan and heatsink. Lowered temps pretty good.

aren't you just describing an 80mm to 60mm adapter, or even a simple fan duct?
