I'm having issues with my computer booting up. The motherboard logo comes up and then a white bar at the top of screen appears. Nothing else happens. I cannot access Safe Mode. I am able to go into the BIOS screen and tried to boot through CD/DVD with the OS cd, but that did not do anything.
When I opened the case, the CPU fan was not working and the CPU temp recorded 97C. I got a new fan and the CPU temp recorded 39C a day later, but no changes to the white bar. Since Intel says max temp is 72C... I am assuming that my chip is fried.
Agreed? Should I test anything else?
Specs:
i5 2500K (2nd gen)
Gigabyte AMD Radeon HD 6550
Corsair Vengeance 2x4gb
MSI P67A-C43
