Hello.

Believe it or not, I bought all my components five months ago and will not get a chance to build it till next moth because I've been traveling out of the country all this time.

Anyway, I purchased a Lian-Li PC-A16B for my case and an Asus P5B Deluxe for my motherboard and an E6400 processor.

I don't plan on overclocking, but maybe in the future. But I'm just looking for a good CPU cooler that fits my motherboard and case.

Thanks all.

Thermalright Ultra 120 eXtreme or Tuniq Tower 120.

First, the Core 2 Duo stock cooling is pretty decent and quiet. So if you aren't gonna overclock, you might want to give that a try until you are ready to OC.

The Hyper TX I had a few months and really like it. It's a great light weight cooler, uses the snap-in pins (doesn't need to be bolted down due to it's light weight). And it's priced nicely.

I just replaced my Hyper TX with the Tuniq Tower, which was on sale this week at NewEgg for $45 with free shipping, but that sale ended yesterday unfortunately. For the $45 price, I think it's a great cooler. Comes with it's own fan and fan controller as well. It's doing a great job cooling my 3.6GHz E6750.

Unfortunately that NewEgg sale ended and it's back up to $65 (same price as the Ultra-120 Extreme). But you can find it at other places like frozencpu.com or jab-techcom for $50.

I would dissagree.

My E6600 Stock fan is way to loud given its 80mm and runs in the 2200rpm and higher range all the time.

Perception of noise levels vary from person to person, thus you may also be like me and find it way to noisy.

Thus i would recommend basically any large HS that you can afford, and pair it with a nice quiet 120mm fan.

I just orderd a Q6600 and a Thermalright SI 128-SE and a couple of different manufacture 120mm fans in the ~1200rpm range, (noctua, scythe, coolermaster, arctic-cooling, antec, thermaltake) the fans are cheap so i just bought a bunch and i will try them all and keep the one with the least amount of noise and best airflow.

Thats somthing you might also want to try.

I've been searching these threads and it seems the Thermalright Ultra 120 comes highly recommended.

I did see the Tuniq Tower 120 was on sale and I was going to buy it but didn't know if it was going to fit. I guess I missed that sale.

What worries me is that, if I remember correctly, there's a side fan on the PC-A16 case and I'm not sure if that sat on top of where the cpu would sit. I really doubt it, but with the size of these cpu coolers, i just wanted to make sure it will fit in the case.

The other think I was reading was that, some of these coolers are a pain to install. Is that just the norm with these large fans. Sure, it's not like I'll be changing fans every week or anything, just making sure it's not too difficult that I end up breaking something.

I really like my Thermalrigh SI-128 and I was using the XP-120 before that. Any Thermalright Product is going to be good assuming it fits the socket
