Hey all, i just got an xp-90 and was wondering whats a good fan to attach to it. Im running a SD 3700 with two 120 mm fans, and a 80mm side fan. Case is going to be modded with a window, so a "nice" ( looking for maybe red LDS, or red UV fan) is what im looking for, but is not nessisary if it would drop the preformance. thanks

XP90 performance depends to a good degree on what fan you put on. The more air flow/pressure the fan provides the better (obviously), however, more flow usually means more noise so there is some trade-off here you have to decide.

For stock CPU speed or moderate overclocking you can use the recommended 92mm panaflo "medium" fan which gets you a C/W ratio of about 0.18 (i.e. 18 degrees CPU temp increase per 100W of CPU power consumption) while still being fairly quiet. For more hardcore overclocking you probably want to get a higher throughput fan (at the cost of more noise). I think you can get the C/W down to 0.13 with a vantec tornado fan at full blast.

I tried a vantec tornado 92mm on my xp-90, IT WAS LOUDER THAN MY VACUUM CLEANER! Couldn't hear myself think :( , so RMA'd it back & bought a quieter zalman 92mm fan instead.

ha ha, that's funny :p Glad I didn't buy that one. :D

for a good balance between noise and ocing, get a decent panaflo fan.
this is what thermalright reccomends, and they are some of the most reliable and balanced fans out there...
