cpu cooler

This one is the best: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX18872(ME).aspx
This one is almost as good: http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX17339(ME).aspx
These are all pretty decent but not as good as the above (descending from best to worst):

http://www.memoryexpress.com/Products/PID-MX21476(ME).aspx

All of the above coolers are significantly better than the Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 Pro.

okey so i am down to these 2

or

the second seems better just because it is not so fucking big

Why? The 2nd is about the same size as the TRUE (but weighs much more) and isn't as good and about 5 bucks more from there.

I also believe the first one got some bad reviews when not being used as a passive cooler as the fin density isn't very good.

well then would a cosmo case + the fan it comes with be enough?

The issue is that the fin design of that cooler is not efficient with a high volume of airflow. I'm going to agree with BlueFireIce's recommendation that you go with the TRUE instead. It's a better cooler, and it's also smaller and easier to work with. The downside is that you'd need to add your own fan, but that's not really a big deal.

i dont want to spend that much money for a cooler

In all truth, I find that a selling point, as I think most of the fans that have come with the HS's I have gotten were on the cheap side, and I ended up replacing them anyway, with the TRUE, you get a great HS and your own choice of a quality fan. But I guess its all a matter of what your looking for.

The TRUE is cheaper than both of the ones you listed...

If you buy from here, the TRUE ends up being around the same price as the two you're trying to decide between, even after you add in the cost of a fan.

In the defense of the Scythe coolers, Scythe fans are actually top-notch. It is nice to be able to choose your fan though.

but i am from canada

also i am getting that rig this weekend

Ah, I see. Does the heatsink have to be from that retailer? If you're willing to buy from elsewhere, you can get this Xigmatek heatsink for $35 which is better than those Scythe heatsinks and almost as good as the TRUE: http://www.directcanada.com/products/?sku=25530AC5457&vpn=HDT-S1283&manufacture=Xigmatek

Even when you factor in $10 for shipping, it still comes out to less than any of the Scythe coolers.

I don't doubt it, I am just use to big, loud 38mm delta fans.

Sorry about that, I know directron ships to Canada, but I'm sure it would be a steep price.

I support your decision to purchase a Freezer 7 Pro.

I had an unlapped Freezer 7 Pro with Intel thermal grease mounted on an unlapped Q6600. Load temps were ~60 C.

The Thermalright Ultima-90 I purchased had a concave base. Six sheets of 400-grit wetdry sandpaper later the base still isn't flat. The Q6600, also convex, was lapped flat. The Ultima-90 with MX-2 cools the quad to ~57 C.

The TRUE and its derivatives are not worth the price in some situations. There are other variables to consider such as labor, case temperature, etc.

Two benefits of the Ultima-90 were slightly lower noise and simpler mounting compared to the Freezer's push pins.

BTW, which CPU are you cooling?

I'm going to have to recommend against the ACF7Pro in that case. Although it's a decent cooler, it really isn't designed to cope with the kind of heat produced by a quad, and overclocking would pretty much be out. Take a look at the Xigmatek I linked to a few posts back and see what you think.

the weird thing was that i was able to get 3.6ghz stable with temps of 72 max D:<

werid

Well, it's up to you. I personally wouldn't stick an overclocked quad under an ACF7Pro.
