I currently have a GIGABYTE GA-8I945PL-G mobo with a Pentium D


I want to upgrade to a core 2. Could I use something like this?

If not, which core 2 cpu's can I use?


and whats the difference between the Conroe and the Wolfdale?

Well according to the specs, it only supports 800/533Mhz FSB which sucks.

Also in the CPU Support list for you mobo:http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Support/Motherboard/CPUSupport_Model.aspx?ProductID=1951

Your motherboard doesn't support any of Core 2's according to the CPU compatibility list. and there is no new BIOS release for you mobo either, so sadly you are going to have to get a new mobo for the Core 2's.

Oh ya, and the difference between the Conroes and the Wolfdales is that the Wolfdales are 45nm which means that they run cooler and can Overclock higher without getter hot to fast. And the Conroes are 65nm.
