Cpu clock speed different in bios and cpuz

EIST (Enhanced Intel Speedstep Technology) and C1E (C1 Enhanced Halt State). They're power-saving features that reduce your CPU speed while it's idle. Nothing to worry about.

Just found this. Is this what you were talking about with the EIST and C1E. Im going to assume that it will automatically throttle up as the cpu speed is needed.

I wish my motherboard manual would have explained this. It would have saved me a lot of stress.

Indeed.

Starting to think a sticky for "why is my CPU running slow/under speed (or whatever)", like the sticky in the storage forums of "Why is my hard drive smaller than the advertised capacity?" might be a good idea.

Yes it will, if you want more info see here or here.

I just noticed my cpu runs at 20c while underclocked and cooled with the Xigmatek S1283 and a 120mm Thermaltake smart fan. I guess Intel knew what they were doing as I've never seen a processor run that cool.
