CPU Bottleneck cutoff point

I'm seriously thinking of purchasing a BFG or eVGA Geforce 6800 GT. My cpu, however, is a 2500+ @ 215 x 11 (2365 mhz), although i can push it to 2.45 or so if needed.

Will this be a bottleneck to the card? Sorry if this has been repeated, but I have been unable to determine at "cutoff point" for a cpu to be a bottleneck.

It should run quite nicely with that cpu, but yes it will bottlekneck it a tad but I wouldn't think by much.

Yeah, although the barton is a tad better than the t'bred b with the xtra cache...Very nice o/c you have there though :)

Looks like im going to do some pushing to get my FSB up there.

On a side note, I plan on w/c'ing my BFG card. I have a block already, but its the d-tek one, and I would need to mod it a bit. As for cooling the ram on the card, would you guys think chopping up the stock HS would work?

Also, I see 2 HSF's on the BFG cards...the older "better" one with a seperated memory section, and a newer dual fan single plate one...does anyone know which one Best Buy sells?

I plan on buying from them since I have $160 of refund cash to spend there. I wonder if that works online so I can try to avoid tax...

Any new BFG GT you get now will most likely have the dual fans.

I have a similar setup to yours and I'm so glad I went ahead and got a GT. Upgraded from a 5900 and it was almost like night and day. My GT is the dual fan one and at Ultra speeds, the temp never hits 80c with the rthdribl thingy going non-stop. No artifacts or freezes at all.

I say go for it and put that refund to use. The GT is an awesome card with your setup.
 
my guess is he cut off is ~2Ghz for a A64 and ~2.5Ghz for a A-XP and ~3Ghz for a P4
 
I read somewhere that all BFG GT cards now come with the dual fan, copper heatsink. BFG stated that is was easier for them to assemble..
 
Bleh, looks like I'll need to buy some ram coolers or chop up a HSF then if I am to water-cool the card...

BTW, does anyone know if a d-tek GPU cooler will work on it? If not...does anyone know the dimensions of the mounting holes, etc, of the card? Ive been googling it for a bit, cant find anything. Google used to be better...
